Description
We know, we know: We said we’d never make a cobbler shaker.

But we promise this one is different!

Sleek, balanced, and engineered to perform, this cobbler cocktail shaker fixes everything you (and we) hate about the ones you’ve tried before. It opens easily even when ice-cold, seals tightly without leaking, and includes a built-in jigger with measurement lines.

No more wobbly landings. The indented base keeps the bottom from ballooning out… So even after a hard shake over ice, the shaker sits steady on the counter, right where you left it.

Plus, dual silicone gaskets on the lid prevent the metal from swelling and freezing together. And the cap? It doubles as a jigger with interior measurements.

It’s the A Bar Above Performance Cobbler Shaker, and it was worth the wait.

Choose Your Shaker

Wondering whether you want a Cobbler Shaker or a Boston Shaker? We can help!

A Cobbler shaker is a 3-piece shaker with a built-in strainer and cap. Everything fits together in one tool - just add ingredients, shake, and pour.

A Boston shaker is a 2-piece shaker made of two tins that seal together. It requires a separate strainer and is the most common shaker used by professional bartenders.

Why choose a Cobbler shaker?

Cobbler shakers are great for home bartenders and beginners. The built-in strainer makes them simple to use and keeps your setup minimal.

Our cobbler shaker also features dual silicone gaskets that create a watertight seal and help prevent the lid from freezing shut, a common issue with traditional cobbler shakers.

Why choose a Boston shaker?

Boston shakers are the industry standard behind the bar, preferred by many professionals for speed, durability, and efficiency in high-volume environments.

Bottom line:

If you want simplicity and convenience, go with a Cobbler shaker.

If you want the professional bartender’s choice, choose a Boston shaker.

FAQ

Why does my shaker sometimes get stuck after shaking? (And how do I fix it?)

This is totally normal. When you shake a drink, the rapid cooling from the ice makes the parts contract into each other and seal shut. For a Boston shaker, find that frosty line and hit it with one palm while holding with your other hand. I know, I know. It’s hard to explain, so we’ve made a video that you can find here. If that doesn’t work, try running warm water over the outside of the metal for a few seconds or tapping gently around the seal with your palm. A little patience (and warmth) usually does the trick.

For a non-A Bar Above cobbler shaker… Honestly, that’s a tough one (literally), which is the reason we generally dislike cobblers. (The shakers, not the people. They’re rad.) But our cobbler shaker is designed with specialty gaskets that will prevent your shaker from freezing shut in the first place, so you don’t even have to worry about it.

Can I put my shaker in the dishwasher?

Absolutely! Our cobbler shaker is made from professional-grade stainless steel and is 100% dishwasher-safe. That said, if you want to keep it looking pristine for years to come, handwashing and drying it promptly can help prevent water spots or wear over time.

Who is this bartender shaker for?

This cobbler set is made for everyone: beginner, intermediate, and advanced home bartenders as well as professional mixologists.

Is the built-in strainer enough, or do I still need a Hawthorne/fine mesh strainer?

For most drinks, the built-in strainer on our cobbler shaker is all you need. It does a great job filtering out ice and larger ingredients, but if you’re working with fresh herbs, egg whites, or muddled fruit, use a separate fine mesh strainer. A Hawthorne strainer is more relevant when you’re using a Boston shaker and isn't required for a cobbler.

What occasion can I use this bar shaker for?

This shaker set is meant for everyday use and is great for making drinks for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, dinner parties, and date nights.

Can I make mocktails or protein drinks with this?

Mocktails? Heck yeah! The cobbler shaker is just as useful for mocktails, iced coffees, fresh juices as it is for alcoholic cocktails. It’s built to mix liquids thoroughly and strain out ice or solids, whether you're using spirits or skipping them entirely. As far as protein shakes, this shaker is designed for thinner liquids and might not break up all the protein powder efficiently unless you shake it really hard. But the strainer lid should filter out anything… uh, chunky. (Gross.) Anyway, it’s not specifically designed for thicker liquids but will get the job done.
