I was looking for a high quality silicone mat to protect our quartzite kitchen counters from the challenges of our Thermador professional gas range in our new house. Sadly I learned from experience that our quartzite counters, although harder than granite, were also porous, and I was getting small oil stains from food spatter, so I needed some protection from that. I also learned that the range puts out TONs of heat, so I needed something that would withstand that when close to the burners. Finally, I wanted a surface on which I could easily put heavy, hot pots and pans without risking damage to the counters. I tried several other products, and, while nice for lighter use, they just weren't up to the task from a durability perspective. I was delighted when this product ticked all the boxes, as the Brits say, but most importantly, and as an added bonus, it looks really nice. I thought I would have to hide it when not in use, but not so. It fits in perfectly with our modern, minimalist design. I rarely write a review, but this is a home run on all fronts and worth the comment. I've ordered another one for the other side of the range!
